If a mole or lesion is new, changing in size, shape or colour, or if it bleeds, crusts or fails to heal, it is sensible to have it assessed. Most lesions are benign, but careful examination helps confirm this.
No referral is required for private consultations. Appointments can be booked directly.
In most cases a diagnosis can be made at the initial consultation. If treatment is required, the options and next steps will be discussed clearly before proceeding.
Photographs are not essential, but they are often helpful, particularly for conditions that change over time such as hair loss, rashes or intermittent skin problems. If you have older photographs that show how an area previously looked, bringing them to your appointment may help illustrate any changes.
There is no special preparation required, but it is helpful to avoid covering lesions with make-up or heavy creams so they can be examined clearly.
