ACNE

Acne is a common inflammatory skin condition affecting adolescents and adults. It typically presents with blackheads, whiteheads, inflamed spots and, in some cases, deeper cysts or nodules. Acne develops due to a combination of excess oil production, blocked pores, bacterial overgrowth and inflammation. While many mild cases respond to topical treatment, more persistent or scarring acne may require prescription therapy. Early and appropriate management is important to reduce the risk of long-term scarring and pigmentation changes.

What can I do prior to my appointment?

• Make a note of how long acne has been present and whether it fluctuates.

• List treatments already tried, including over-the-counter products.

• Bring details of any previous prescription treatments.

• Avoid starting new products in the weeks immediately prior to review if possible.

This allows clearer assessment of your current baseline.
