Atopic Dermatitis

Atopic dermatitis is a chronic inflammatory skin condition characterised by dry, itchy and inflamed skin. It often begins in childhood but can persist into or present in adulthood. The condition tends to fluctuate, with periods of improvement and flare. Management focuses on restoring the skin barrier with regular moisturiser, reducing inflammation during flare-ups and identifying potential triggers. With appropriate treatment and education, symptoms can usually be brought under good control.

What can I do prior to my appointment?

• Consider potential triggers, including soaps, fragrances, new products or stress.

• Bring a list of topical treatments currently in use.

• Continue regular moisturiser prior to the appointment.

Understanding your current skincare routine is helpful.
