Skin Lesions & Cysts

Certain skin lesions, including cysts and suspicious growths, may require surgical removal. Excision is usually performed under local anaesthetic and involves removing the lesion with an appropriate margin where necessary. Tissue may be sent for histological analysis to confirm the diagnosis. The decision to excise is based on clinical assessment, symptoms, cosmetic considerations and, in some cases, concern regarding malignancy.

What can I do prior to my appointment?

.• Advise of any relevant medical conditions.

• Wear comfortable clothing if the lesion is on the body.

Further instructions will be provided if a procedure is planned.
